Diet Soda

Lately, I have been working on not drinking as much diet soda. I usually drink one diet Pepsi or diet Dr. pepper per day. I have been contemplating giving it up completely because of a couple of reasons.
  1. I heard it gives you cellulite (Which is pretty much a lost cause at this point for me)
  2. I have heard it actually makes you more hungry - therefor you consume more calories
  3. I know sugar substitutes are not good for me and neither is all the junk that makes diet soda taste so good.
  4. Have you ever seen a coke clean a penny??? Think of what that is doing inside of me.

I know there are some faithful bloggers who are die hard Diet Coke fans. Yes, the three of you know who you are:)

So what do you think? Keep drinking it or give it up?

What do you eat for breakfast?

What do you eat for breakfast? Are you a rut eater or do you mix it up? I know my mom has two cups of black coffee and eats half an apple and a handful of nuts every morning. Then about two hours later she has a piece of toast with cottage cheese and Cinnamon and sugar. I know that sounds gross but if you like cottage cheese it actually really good. My sister on the other hand has cereal almost every morning and is a non coffee drinker. For some reason I think it's inter sting to see what everyone else eats for breakfast. So what do you eat?

I am all over the place - one cup of coffee with organic 1/2 and 1/2 and some sugar and then either:
yogurt with wheat germ,
toast with peanut butter, banana and honey
oatmeal
banana pancakes
cereal
two eggs....

Gianna loves to eat

I realize more and more how much I miss being part of the blogging community. I love connecting this way with friends and yet it seems to be the task that haunts me. I think if I had a laptop it would actually make it much easier. Our computer is upstairs so if Mr. F is watching TV I like to be with him and so I don't want to go blog.

For the next four months though Mr. F is working the graveyard shift so my evening time will be free. Last week was his first week working graveyard and it was hard for me. It really gave me quite a bit of compassion for single moms. I think a big factor is also that I am spoiled! My husband does so much in regards to caring for Gianna. We are a team and we take care of her together. So when he is out of the picture for 3 or 4 days straight I get really overwhelmed.

Gianna turned 5 months this week. She is changing so much every day. This morning she rolled from her tummy to her back, she is grabbing everything in site and she is figuring out how to use her hands. She loves to grab my hair and my lips and sucks/chews on anything she can find. She wakes up with a smile and has started screaming out in joy.

At the end of January we introduced her to some baby oatmeal and she really like it. I am feeding her once a day and this week she had some organic sweet potatoes. She dives forward for each bit and just slurps is all down. She has started wearing bibs daily because of the excessive drooling from teething.

She brings us so much joy. Other than her my life is pretty boring. I am still working selling health insurance, trying to get back in shape and trying to keep our house running. I am home each night by 7 because Gianna is out by 7:15. If anyone wants to catch up on the phone I am free:)

Hopefully you will start hearing from me on a more regular basis. Here are some new picture of Gianna who by the way does not look like me at all. She is totally her dad!

Turkey Bacon vs Pork Bacon

*So last night I was watching Oprah and saw that she was actually the one who shed light on this bacon controversy. I guess my hubby's co-worker had just seen the show because he was the one who told him to check the labels*

So lately I have really been into bacon the thick kind that is extra crispy. I usually buy turkey bacon though because I thought it was healthier but look what I found out. Turkey bacon (Oscar Meyer) has the same amount of fat per piece as the Costco maple bacon, turkey bacon has 80mg more sodium and 50 more mg of cholesterol! What the heck!!!! Turkey bacon is out.
